This was a special meeting.
Rotarian and past District Governor Dave Dillon was honored for his many
contributions to Rotary and the community.
Dillon 89, received 3 standing ovations by club visitors and guests.
A member of Rotary for 51 years, Dillon
served as president of the club from 1976 to 1977. He was Rotarian of the year for
the district in 1990, and was installed as district Governor in 1991-92. He was also a driving force behind organizing
the Rotary youth exchange program in the local district. In addition to his
years of service to the club Dave Dillon also served as director of The Eureka
Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the HSU foundation, Chairman of the United Way
Fund, Chairman of the St. Joseph hospital board of Trustees, and chairman of
the 4H Club Council.
Distinguished guests included Dist. Gov. Bob Roberts on
Erin Dunn, Larry Meyers , Del Rabe, and Terry Clark, all past district Governors. Dillon received certificates of appreciation
from Mayor Frank Yager, the Humboldt Co. Board of Supervisors and Congressman Jared
Huffman. In addition a plaque with his
name on it will be hung in the Rotary Hall Of Fame located in Chicago, the home
of Rotary’s founder Paul Harris
